Biography

Dr. Xueyu Cheng is an Associate Professor of Economics in the Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) program at Clayton State University. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from The Ohio State University. Prior to joining Clayton State, she served as an Assistant Professor of Economics in the College of Business Administration at Alabama State University.

Dr. Cheng’s research focuses on gender and racial disparities in education and the labor market. Her broader research interests lie in applied microeconomics and labor economics, encompassing topics such as bottle bills, unemployment in the Black Belt region, and corruption. She has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and a book chapter published by Springer. Her recent collaborative works appear in Expert Systems with Applications and Applied Soft Computing.

At Clayton State University, Dr. Cheng teaches courses in Economics, Statistics, Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Business Ethics, and Interdisciplinary Studies. Dedicated to student success, she integrates experiential learning and career development into her teaching to prepare students for professional growth and lifelong learning.
