Biography

Shakyra Rivers, DNP, FNP-BC, was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, but recently relocated to Atlanta, GA. After graduating from the prestigious Howard University with two bachelor’s degrees, Dr. Rivers worked as a registered nurse in many specialty areas, medical-surgical nursing, labor and delivery, and in the emergency department of Detroit Receiving Hospital. In 2017, she earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Wayne State University and became a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She has worked most of her clinical experience in the ambulatory care setting, including working at a prominent urgent care throughout the Atlanta Metro area. Currently, Dr. Rivers is a full-time assistant professor at Clayton State University.
