Dr. Patricia Smith has been teaching at Clayton State University since 2010, She is a Full Professor in English, with a concentration in English Education (Pre-K through college). She teaches English and Education courses and directs the MALS (Master of Arts in Liberal Studies) graduate program. In 2017, Dr. Smith was awarded the College of Arts and Sciences Gene Hatfield Teacher of the Year Award as well as named as a finalist for the Alice J. Smith Teaching Excellence Award. In 2019, Dr. Smith was awarded the Heritage Cadillac Foundation University Professorship in recognition of her excellence in teaching, service, and scholarship. She has also been nominated on several times for the Presidential Making Things Better award.
