Dr. Nayab Hakim is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice in the Department of Social Sciences. She earned her B.S. in Criminal Justice from California State University, Sacramento, her M.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Alabama, and her Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her research and teaching interests include criminological theory, sex crimes, corrections, women and crime, and terrorism. She has published in the areas of sex crimes and terrorism and is currently working on several projects on the topics of sexual violence and domestic violence. Dr. Hakim is extremely passionate about teaching and cares deeply about her students’ success and well-being. Before joining Clayton State in 2020, Dr. Hakim taught a variety of criminal justice courses at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. In her spare time, Dr. Hakim enjoys traveling with her husband and two kids, reading, shopping, and watching college football (Roll Tide!).
