Biography

I have held administrative and faculty roles at six colleges and universities. My focus has always been on helping students to be successful. To further that goal I have been an member and officer fro a number of professional organizations, including president of the National College Learning Center Association. I have developed three first year student courses and two learning community programs, and been intimately involved with starting or supporting community engagement programs.I have also worked in or played a supervisory role in  learning center programs. I have provided expertise for providing oversight for academic advising programs. I have been asked to provide mentoring, training, and consulting in organizational communication, learning theories and programming. I had a special interest and experience with working with students with learning disabilities. I chaired numerous statewide and university-wide committees and was a member of a number of USG committees. I was often involved in committees that sought to increase retention, improve curriculum, develop new programs, or hire new faculty members. I have published a few articles, book chapters and non-refereed work.
