Biography

Jacob Lee is an educator, composer, and performer who is intrigued by the ability for storytelling in music. He seeks to create music that is both publicly accessible and mentally stimulating. As a composer, Jacob has received commissions from ensembles and artists such as the Utah Opera, the Delgani String Quartet, and Estelí Gomez (of Grammy-winning ensemble, Roomful of Teeth) and has served as Composer in Residence for the Orchestra of Southern Utah. As a performer, he has performed throughout the Western United States with ensembles such as the Utah Shakespeare Festival, the American Creators Ensemble, and rock group Apollo’s Army. Jacob holds degrees in piano performance (BA) from Southern Utah University, music composition (MM) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, as well as concurrent degrees in music theory (MA) and music composition (PhD) from the University of Oregon. He has taught as an adjunct music professor at Southern Utah University and currently teaches music theory and piano at Clayton State University.
