Biography

Dr. Blair currently serves as Director of Bands at Clayton State University. Prior to his appointment he served as Director of Bands in Florida public schools. Under his direction, his bands ensembles received numerous superior ratings and performed at Carnegie Hall in 2009, 2012, and 2024. While at Plant City High School, the Wind Ensemble performed at Carnegie Hall (2024) and Music for All Orlando Regionals (2022, 2023, 2025). Under Dr. Blair's leadership, PCHS was awarded the William P. Foster Award of Excellence from the Music Education Alliance in 2023 and was selected for the Music for All National Concert Band Festival in 2025.

Dr. Blair received his Bachelor of Arts in political science and Bachelor of Music from Stetson University, Master of Music in conducting and saxophone performance and Ph.D. in music education with a cognate in conducting from the University of South Florida. Dr. Blair studied with Dr. Bobby Adams, Joseph Kreines, James Bishop, Dr. William Wiedrich, and Dr. John Carmichael.
