Biography

Dr. Werther is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and has taught at Clayton State University since 2013. Prior to his time in academia, Dr. Werther worked in a variety of applied settings. Dr. Werther enjoys working with 1st generation & nontraditional college students who aspire to pursue a career in social work, psychology, counseling, MFT or related fields. His areas of interests include Burnout, Latinx and African American mental health, applied multicultural competency, applied ethics and clinical supervision. Dr. Werther earned a Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.) from the University of North Alabama, a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) from Alabama A&M University, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Georgia. He is a native Spanish speaker, a 1st generation immigrant and college graduate, a former student athlete, and a recovered college flunk out. Dr. Werther is Licensed as a Psychologist and Clinical Social Worker in the State of Georgia.
