Biography

Chyrel Lynn Panlilio is a seasoned nursing professional with extensive clinical and academic experience. Originally from the Philippines, she earned her nursing degree from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila and began her career as a surgical nurse at V. Luna Medical Center. After immigrating to Georgia, she worked in critical care settings, including the Surgical Unit and ICU at Palmyra Hospital in Albany, and later in the SICU and CVICU at Georgia Baptist Medical Center.
As her family grew, she embraced flexible roles, serving in home health, the Emergency Department at Southern Regional, a Traumatic Brain Injury Center, and Emory Midtown’s Med-Surg ICU. Committed to lifelong learning, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing Education from Walden University in 2019. Shortly thereafter, she joined Clayton State University as adjunct faculty and transitioned to a full-time faculty position in July 2020, where she mentors and prepares future nurses for success.
Beyond her professional achievements, she and her husband homeschooled seven children, who have gone on to careers in nursing, computer science, IT, and music education.

Teaching Interest

I am passionate about teaching, with a focus on facilitating active learning and developing students’ ability to think critically and make sound judgments. I incorporate innovative strategies, including game-based learning and case studies, to create engaging classroom experiences. My goal is to prepare students to become competent, compassionate nurses and strong patient advocates, emphasizing both clinical excellence and empathy in practice.

Research Interest

I am interested in supporting incoming nursing students’ success by bridging the gap between foundational knowledge and program expectations through structured nursing bootcamps. These programs provide essential preparation, build confidence, and foster critical thinking skills needed to thrive in the nursing curriculum.
