Dr. Brigitte Byrd specializes in poetry as a genre and performance theory. She is a transnational writer whose work reflects her interest in prose poetry and hybrid genres as well as otherness and/or alienation. Dr. Byrd is the author of recently released <i>Onomo, Flaubert!</i> (Ahsahta Press, 2020) as well as three other poetry collections: <i>Song of a Living Room</i>, <i>The Dazzling Land</i> and <i>Fence Above the Sea</i>. She is also a poetry editor for<i> Tupelo Quarterly</i>. She directs creative and scholarly undergraduate and graduate theses in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Dr. Byrd supervises internships for <i>Cygnet</i>, the student magazine of art and literature and coordinates the Visiting Writers Reading Series.
