Biography

I am a native Atlantan who attended and acquired a nursing degree from Georgia State University. My first job upon graduating from nursing school was within the Grady Health System. I worked at Grady for a total of 20 years in multiple capacities. During my tenure at Grady, I decided to go back to school for my Masters in Nursing Education which was acquired at Grand Canyon University. While at Grand Canyon, I was invited to join Sigma Theta Tau which is a national honor society for nurses. Upon graduating from Grand Canyon University, I decided to take a position at Gordon State University as part-time adjunct faculty taking students to clinical while working at Piedmont Fayette. In August of 2017, I was hired as a full-time instructor at Clayton State University.
I am married and have two children and a dog.

Teaching Interest

My interest lies in assisting incoming nursing students with matriculation into the entry-level courses for nursing school. When students come into the nursing program, they tend to think that nursing school is similar to the other disciplines which is not the case. Students may be asked to recall some information but what is of most importance is learning the concepts and being able to apply the concepts to different situations. I enjoy assisting students with the transition. The establishing of a strong foundation is the essence of being a prudent nurse.

Research Interest

My research interest lies in diabetes within the African American community.
