Biography
Penny Cliff is the Director of the Archives and Information Studies (AIS) Program at Clayton State University, where she has dedicated her career to advancing archival education and preserving Georgia’s rich historical record. Originally from England, Penny developed an early passion for history and cultural heritage, which guided her academic and professional journey.
At Clayton State, Penny has been instrumental in shaping the AIS program into a respected hub for archival studies, mentoring countless students and fostering partnerships with institutions across the state. Her leadership emphasizes innovation in archival practices, digital preservation, and community engagement, ensuring that historical resources remain accessible for future generations.
Penny’s contributions extend beyond the university. She has served on numerous professional committees and collaborated with state and national organizations to promote archival standards and advocacy. Her work has earned her recognition as a trusted voice in the archival community, including prestigious honors such as the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council (GHRAC) Lifetime Achievement Award.
